Love Is In The Air - Ancient Trees of Memory and Renewal

Viewed from below, these ancient trees rise beyond the frame, inviting the viewer to look upward with the same sense of wonder that has inspired my photography for more than three decades. Drawn to weathered trunks, twisted branches, and the quiet presence they carry through time. Long before they appeared on canvas, they became part of my visual memory, collected one photograph at a time. Now, after thirty years behind the camera, they bloom again—this time from the “garden of my studio” as paintings.

Created with layered acrylic, molding paste, and mixed media, each tree emerges as both landscape and portrait. Sculptural bark, ancient trunks, and delicate blossoms become visual metaphors for endurance, resilience, memory, and renewal. Their weathered surfaces speak of lives shaped by time, while their blossoms celebrate the quiet beauty of becoming. Every painting begins with observation, but ultimately becomes an interpretation—shaped by memory, emotion, and the enduring dialogue between nature and the human spirit. Rather than depicting specific places, these paintings explore nature as a living archive of transformation.
