About Corina
About the Artist
Corina Ioana is a Romanian-American contemporary artist based in California, originally from Transylvania. Working across painting, mixed media, sculpture, photography, and material-based installation, she creates tactile, materially rich works that explore the quiet beauty of transformation.
Her multidisciplinary practice is rooted in natural materials and weathered surfaces. Using sand, stone, wood, cement, jute, glass, and reclaimed elements, she constructs paintings that exist between abstraction and artifact, where layers of erosion, excavation, and time become part of the visual language.
Nature has remained a constant source of inspiration throughout her life. Drawn to geological formations, trees, flowers, weathered architecture, and organic textures, she explores the relationship between natural processes and the human experience. Whether through photography or painting, her work reflects an enduring fascination with emergence, renewal, and the traces left behind by time.
Corina's own journey has been one of continual reinvention. After leaving Romania in her early twenties as a single mother, she rebuilt her life across Europe before settling in the United States. Throughout that journey she worked across photography, furniture restoration, jewelry design, interior design, sculpture, and painting—each discipline expanding the visual vocabulary that informs her work today.
Her original collections have been exhibited nationally and recognized through juried exhibitions, international platforms, and curatorial features. Her work is held in private collections and created for contemporary interiors, hospitality environments, and public spaces.
Across every medium, Corina's practice reflects a lifelong belief that beauty has the power to heal, connect, and transform. Rather than dwelling in what is broken, her work seeks the quiet evidence of renewal—revealing that what has been weathered by time can still carry extraordinary grace.
Artist Statement
Creating has always been my way of understanding the world, it has been my way of moving through it.
Throughout my life, nature has been my greatest teacher. In its quiet rhythms I have found resilience, patience, renewal, and an enduring reminder that beauty continues to emerge through change. Trees weather storms, stone carries the memory of time, flowers bloom after difficult seasons, and landscapes are continually reshaped without losing their capacity to inspire. These natural processes have become the foundation of my artistic language.
Working across painting, mixed media, sculpture, photography, and material-based installation, I create tactile surfaces using sand, stone, wood, cement, jute, glass, and reclaimed materials. I build, scrape, stain, conceal, and excavate, allowing each work to evolve through many layers until it reveals its own presence. My paintings are not composed so much as uncovered. They become quiet artifacts of transformation, carrying traces of memory, time, and renewal.
Although my work is informed by life's challenges, it is never about remaining in them. I am drawn instead to what endures—to the beauty that survives weathering, to the grace found in erosion, and to the quiet strength revealed through becoming. Rather than illustrating pain, I seek to illuminate transformation.
Nature continually reminds us that nothing remains unchanged, yet everything belongs within a larger cycle of renewal. That understanding shapes every collection I create.
Ultimately, my work invites viewers to slow down, to look beneath the visible surface, and to discover that beauty is not the absence of hardship, but something capable of emerging through time, compassion, and continual transformation.
