Fragments XI explores erosion, memory, and the beauty found in what remains.
Built through layers of acrylic and sculptural molding paste, the surface is richly textured, with raised passages, scraped marks, exposed color, and fragments that appear to emerge and recede across the canvas. Warm terracotta and rust tones push through layers of bone white, charcoal, and muted earth tones, creating the feeling of a surface weathered by time.
The central vertical movement draws the eye through the composition, while the fragmented layers create a sense of excavation—something ancient being uncovered beneath what has accumulated above it. At different angles, the dimensional surface catches the light, revealing subtle shadows and a tactile quality that cannot be fully captured in a photograph.
