Artist Statement

I’m Corina Ioana, the artist behind Corinafoto. My work lives at the intersection of abstract painting, photography, and mixed media - where bold colors and layered textures speak what words can’t.

I create not for validation, but for connection. For healing. For joy. To honor the invisible threads that bind us as humans.

Using materials like acrylic, jute, sand, molding paste, cement, natural elements, and glass, I build tactile surfaces that invite both emotion and reflection. Inspired by nature, memory, and the body, my process is rooted in curiosity - what lies beneath the surface of ourselves, of the world, of the moment.

More than decoration, my work is about energy and presence. Each piece is meant to move you—to create a pause, a shift, a breath. To remind us that beauty lives in both the chaos and the quiet. That transformation isn’t just possible - it’s already happening.

I paint like I’m chasing something - feeling, memory, clarity. Sometimes I catch it. Sometimes it catches me.


About the Artist (Bio)

Corina Ioana is a contemporary Romanian-American artist based in California, originally from Transylvania/Romania. Her work blends abstract expressionism with mixed media, photography, and digital experimentation - infused with emotional intensity and deep natural sensibility.

Corina’s textured, color-rich paintings explore themes of identity, resilience, transformation, and the beauty found in imperfection. She often incorporates unconventional materials - cement, sand, jute, molding paste, and glass - creating immersive surfaces that invite touch, introspection, and dialogue.

Her pieces have been featured in exhibitions, literary magazines, and juried competitions across the U.S., and are held in private collections internationally. Through Corinafoto, she continues to explore the connection between art, story, and experience - creating work that doesn't just hang on walls but lingers in hearts.

  • 2008: Featured and Published in Photography Vibes Best of Edition for the pieces “Body” and “Wild Beauty.”
  • July 2017: Exhibition at Jana’s RedRoom Gallery in the Las Vegas Arts District, Las Vegas, Nevada, showcasing a collection of captivating works.
  • August 2018: "Don't Like Blah, Just Wow" exhibition at The Encinitas Civic Art Center in Encinitas, California, where Corina’s artwork drew attention for its bold energy and innovation.
  • July 2023: Renee Phillips, Director and Curator at Manhattan Arts International and The Healing Power of ART & ARTISTS in New York, NY, published an art review praising Corina’s extraordinary talent and artistic vision. In the review, Renee notes Corina’s work invites viewers to explore and expand their inner potential, taking them on transformative journeys beyond the physical realm.
  • November 2023: Nominated as Artist of the Month by Camelback Gallery for the artwork "Path of Enlightenment," a piece that embodies spiritual discovery and enlightenment.
  • December 2023: Awarded Finalist for the All Abstracts 2023 competition by Camelback Gallery, with the piece "Chaotic Pixel Symphony," celebrating dynamic, bold abstract art.
  • December 2023: Nominated as Artist of the Month by Camelback Gallery for the vibrant digital piece "Geometric Wonderland," exploring the intersections of geometry and artistic expression.
  • December 2023: Finalist in the International Contests Best in Show of TopArtAwards for the digital painting "Timeless Reflections," praised for its depth and emotional resonance.
  • May 2024: Forum Literary Magazine in San Francisco published four of Corina’s artworks: "Magic in the Forest," "Silhouette in Color," "Girl on Fire," and "Innocence." Notably, "Girl on Fire" was chosen as the cover art for their latest issue.
  • December 2024: I am honored to have received the Bronze Medal at the “My Best Work of 2024 Exhibition: International Juried ART Awards” in December 2024, hosted by Camelback Gallery, for my photograph “Colors of the Spirit.”
  • March 2025: I had the privilege of exhibiting my work at the Superfine Art Fair in San Francisco, where I showcased my pieces alongside other talented artists. The event allowed me to connect with art enthusiasts, collectors, and industry professionals, furthering my artistic journey.
  • April 2025: Open Studios, Art Explosion Studios, San Francisco, CA
  • June 2025: Nominated as Artist of the Month by Camelback Gallery for the photograph "Midnight Bloom" inspired by the magic of the Queen of the Night flower. 

  • July 24, 2025: Exhibited my work at Pancakes & Booze in San Francisco, showcasing five new mixed media pop-up pieces, each channeling the raw edge of Diva energy.

  • August 2025: Corina’s “Holy Spice”, mixed media pop-up on canvas, was selected for the Manhattan Arts International “HerStory” 2025 Invitational Exhibition.
